Thrice Packs In An Amazing Musical Voyage With Latest Project

Thrice - The Alchemy Index, Vols. 1 and 2 - Fire and Water*Thrice* - _The Alchemy Index: Volumes 1 & 2 -- Fire & Water_ Rating: *83%* Ambitious projects leave little room for error. And when you plan to release what amounts to four 6-song EPs over six months that center around the four basic natural elements (fire, water, wind, and earth), you better make sure its nothing short of amazing. With such expectations its not hard to see why many bands stay away from the concept albums altogether. Yet *Thrice* has pushed ahead where others have failed, and they’ve come out something that is nothing short of wonderful. The first volume, _Fire_, opens with “Firebreather”, a track that picks up where _Vheissu_ left off – hard, driving rock-core in which the band has made its name. For fans who have been with the band from the beginning, this first disc is for you. A non-stop, heart-beat-raising musical tour of what the band has honed so well over the years, it’s a fitting opening statement. The band’s true accomplishment though is the second volume, _Water_. Easily commanding the majority of my attention, the six tracks introduce us to a more ambient, melodic side of *Thrice* that stills brings in a hard edge from time to time. A combination I personally find amazing. Unlike the first volume, which has possibly two standout tracks, every track on this cohesive disc I find myself enjoying repeatedly. *Thrice’s* effort isn’t perfect, but it’s very strong effort. If the last two volumes can pick up where volume two leave off, I think we could be in for an amazing surprise come February. The review length is intentionally short, indicative of our aim to keep things short, simple and sweet. A well-thought out, short review is better than a drawn-out, space-filling one. Just because we can post however much we can doesn't mean we should. Typically all FWM™ reviews last between 200-300 words. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for future reviews; please feel free to let us know._

Okay. So only one person has cared enough to leave their two cents. How depressing! Especially considering all the trouble I went through posting this in the first place. Well you can leave a comment if you want. It might cheer me up.

  1. I like this album, Fire more so than Water.
